An original member of the Chicago Poetry Ensemble, Mike Barrett had a foundational role in the spoken word revolution. He has published numerous poems and essays on poetics. He is the Creative Director of Anvil/lyre Studio, a multimedia arts collective which produces homegrown avant-garde. He teaches at Moberly Area Community College where he is Professor of Language and Literature.
